Community Honor
Dom Starsia to receive the
Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award.
VLLF advisory board member and legendary Virginia head coach Dom Starsia has been named a 2026 recipient of the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award — an honor recognizing leaders who have used lacrosse to connect people in friendship and peace.
The award keeps alive the legacy of Alfie Jacques, the Onondaga Nation stickmaker who crafted traditional wooden lacrosse sticks for more than half a century and served as a coach, educator, and ambassador for the game's Indigenous roots. Starsia is honored alongside Michael Kennedy and Mike Kanatakeron Mitchell.
