WHY NOW?
The funding model for college athletics has bifurcated into the “revenue sharing” sports under the House settlement (football and MBB) and “everything else” (MLAX and the other “Olympic Sports”). Athletic Departments around the country are looking hard at sport-by-sport budgets. UVA MLAX needs an independent and sustainable funding model to cover the cost to compete. Other MLAX programs are adding scholarships and investing heavily; we need to keep pace.
WHY VLLF?
We are passionate about UVA MLAX and our shared heritage of success. We are 100% focused on UVA MLAX. We are volunteers and every dollar raised will go to support the program. Our Advisory Board brings out the insight of many former players who are legends in the game and are respected in the lacrosse brotherhood. We can build on the power of collective action, pooling the annual pledges of our donors to make an immediate impact. Pledge payments are tax deductible because of our 501(c) 3 status.
WHAT WE ARE NOT
The Virginia Lacrosse Legacy Foundation is not an NIL collective.
While NIL plays a role in modern college athletics, the Foundation focuses on long-term program sustainability, community engagement, and legacy preservation.
